Title: Admissions & Scheduling Assistant- CUHA (1 year term w/ possibility of becoming regular) Location: Ithaca Other Locations: null The Cornell University Hospital for Animals (CUHA) provides leadership in patient care, education, clinical investigation and scientific innovation and is one of the finest veterinary teaching hospitals in North America. CUHA staff are expected to be outgoing and welcoming who will work in the CAH Admissions Office, providing informative, factual and pleasant communication between the clinicians, clients, staff, referring veterinarians and the general public. As part of the Support Services team, the incumbent will be responsible for greeting clients and visitors promptly and courteously, gathering and entering patient/client information, answering a multi-line phone system, taking messages, paging clinicians and staff in the Companion Animal Hospital as well as scheduling appointments with accuracy on correct service, using good sound judgment when dealing with emergency situations and relaying pertinent information as necessary. Daily review of computer generated schedule and revise incorrect or incomplete information. Prepare medical records for appointments; mail client information packets, assist students and other clinical support staff with preparation of paperwork and clarification of CUHA policies and procedures. Will also provide the necessary coverage in any of the Client Service Sections such as, Equine Farm Animal Front Office, Discharge Office and in the Afterhours Coordinator position as needed, providing assistance answering phones, admitting and discharging clients, cashiering and maintaining the additional duties assigned in each office. This is a 1 year term position with the possibility of becoming a regular position.Schedule will be primarily Monday- Friday 9:00am-6:00pm, with rotating Saturdays from 8am-12pm. Hours are subject to change depending on the business needs of the office, which may require working as early as 7:30am. Holiday and Out of Hours coverage may be required. Formal training beyond HS and 2-4 years of relevant customer service experience required. Excellent oral and written communication skillsare essential. Ability to successfully and confidently perform in a demanding, fast-paced team environment, as well as foster positive relationships with an array of clientele, providing excellent customer service and demonstrating a professional demeanor at all times. Demonstrate sound judgment, ensuring accuracy, strong attention to detail as well as strong priority setting and time management skills. Excellent telephone and customer service skills a must. Must have basic knowledge of MS Office software and be willing to learn new systems as necessary to carry out job responsibilities.
