Title: Anthropology Reference and Instruction Librarian/Lib Assoc I Location: Ithaca Other Locations: null The Cornell University Library is seeking an Anthropology Reference and Instruction Librarian in Research and Learning Services. Under the general direction of the Director of Research & Learning Services (R&LS), the Anthropology Librarian contributes to planning, providing and assessing a wide array of traditional and innovative instruction, outreach and reference services to students and faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences. Serves as liaison for Anthropology and Native American Studies. Duties and responsibilities: * Provides in-depth reference assistance to Cornell and non-Cornell patrons in person and via telephone, texting, chat, and e-mail. * Plays a strong role in providing Anthropology-related research consultations on a scheduled basis. * Continuously updates and deepens knowledge of appropriate information resources in the areas of responsibilities, including print and online, contemporary and historical sources of research, factual and bibliographic information. * Teaches and prepares customized resource websites for the course-integrated bibliographic instruction program and R&LS workshops. * Participates in general orientation and tour programs. * Updates knowledge of pedagogical methods and practices through professional reading and attending training events. Applies training to teaching where applicable. * Serves as library liaison to the Department of Anthropology and to the American Indian Program. Engages faculty, graduate and undergraduate students in active dialogue about library services and priorities. In addition, contributes to outreach in a variety of other ways, including developing and updating subject guides and outreach web sites. * Plays a major role in providing training for academic and support staff, in selected areas of subject or resource expertise, on an individual or group basis. * Participates in departmental and CUL-wide committees or working groups and contributes to the profession at a regional, national, or international level. Maintains a broad awareness of issues in the field of librarianship and pursues knowledge of professional trends and developments that can be applied to evolving research and instruction services. M.L.S. or equivalent graduate degree with a Bachelor degree in Anthropology. Two years' professional experience in an academic research library. Demonstrated innovative instruction and teaching. Strong commitment to reference services, instruction and information literacy. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
